A group of researchers at the Universidad de los Andes en Colombia have developed an inverted perovskite solar cell with a hole transport layer (HTL) based on nickel oxide (NiOx) layers doped with indium. The NiOxIn HTL was achieved via a one-step electrochemical deposition (ECD) process, with exceptional chemical stability, durability, low toxicity, and cost-effective processing. The cell structure included NiOxIn HTL, a perovskite absorber, an electron transport layer, a buffer layer, and a metal contact. The champion cell achieved a power conversion efficiency of 20.06%.
