The first wind turbine has been installed at the Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm in Germany, owned by Orsted and Nuveen Infrastructure. The wind farm is expected to be commissioned in 2025 with 83 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines of 11MW capacity each. It is notable for its connection concept using 66 kV cables to the DolWin Epsilon offshore converter platform operated by TenneT. The project is significant as one of the first offshore wind farms awarded without subsidies, thanks to corporate power purchase agreements.
