Scientists from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom investigated the potential of a floating PV farm on Oman's Wadi Dayqah Dam coupled with a hydrogen storage system. They found the project technically viable despite the higher levelized cost of hydrogen. The location offers adequate sunlight and ambient temperature for the system. The researchers used PVsyst software for the FPV system design and HOMER Pro software for optimizing the hydrogen storage system. The analysis showed the system can cover electricity requirements of 422 households, achieving 100% energy demand fulfillment with renewables.
