An international research group has developed a new concept for floating photovoltaics that can withstand wave heights above 10 meters under harsh environmental offshore conditions. The system incorporates lattice-shaped floating PV arrays with a unique dual-pitch configuration to reduce shading and wind loads. The floaters are connected with a low-carbon mooring system and splitters to link multiple floating modules. The generated power is transmitted via a floating transformer for easy access. Tests showed excellent motion performance with 0-degree orientation outperforming the 25-degree orientation.
