Floating wind steel project wins funding

The Launchpad project, a collaboration between Marine Power Systems (MPS), Tata Steel UK, Swansea University, Associated British Ports, and Ledwood Engineering, has been awarded nearly £1m of innovation funding to further develop and optimise PelaFlex, MPS's unique floating offshore wind platform. The project aims to increase the amount of local, low CO2 steel used for each platform from around 10% to over 50%, strengthen local supply chains, and optimize the detailed design of the technology for applications in the Celtic Sea.
