Fraunhofer ISE opens new outdoor solar technology test field in Germany

Researchers at Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Germany have established an Outdoor Performance Test Field in Merdingen to conduct faster and more accurate testing of PV modules and other solar technologies. The test field will combine indoor laboratory measurements with real weather conditions data to improve module performance. Different projects are being carried out at the test field including the MiMoRisk project to minimize yield risks, PVwins project for PV noise barriers, and VAckerPower project for investigating agrivoltaic systems.
