Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems have discovered a method to significantly reduce the silver usage in the manufacturing of heterojunction technology (HJT) solar cells. The study suggests that reducing silver laydown can lower production costs and enhance the long-term cost competitiveness of HJT cells, which is crucial considering the expected rise in global silver consumption by the PV industry. Meanwhile, Chinese manufacturer Huasun has set a new efficiency record, further highlighting the technological advances in the sector.
