Researchers at Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE) have conducted research on using indirect gravure printing for front-side metallization of silicon heterojunction (SHJ) solar cells. They achieved conversion efficiencies of up to 20.7% while reducing silver consumption and cycle times. The goal is to develop low-temperature metallization processes with high throughput levels for silicon-based solar cells, focusing on techniques like rotary printing.
