GE Vernova has been chosen to supply a 48MW battery energy storage system in Cornwall, south-west UK. Varco Energy has selected GE Vernova to supply the complete battery energy storage system for the Sambar Power project. GE Vernova’s FLEXRESERVOIR will comprise FLEXIQ Controls, FLEXINVERTER central inverters, and Battery DC-Blocks, which will be scaled to meet the capacity of the project and provide balancing and capacity services to the national grid. Varco, an Adaptogen Capital funded battery storage operating company, is building flexible storage assets. James Mills, Director at Varco Energy, expressed the importance of battery energy storage systems in balancing renewable energy generation and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Varco Energy is delighted to collaborate with GE Vernova on the Sambar Power project. Varco Energy is committed to investing in assets that accelerate renewable integration, sustain a resilient grid, and provide consumer value in the UK. This marks Varco's second project contracted with GE Vernova and the third overall as the company expands its portfolio of utility-scale battery energy storage systems across the UK.
