GE Vernova has invested $10.2 million in Xlinks's Morocco-UK Power Project, acquiring a minority stake to support the delivery of this clean energy initiative. The project aims to provide 3.6GW of zero-carbon power from Morocco to meet about 8% of the UK's electricity demand through wind, solar, and battery storage, along with a 4000km HVDC subsea cable linking Morocco and the UK. Other investors include TAQA, TotalEnergies, Octopus Energy, and AFC. The project supports the UK's net zero goals and addresses rising electricity needs amid national electrification.
