Generadora Metropolitana begins commercial operation 480MW Chile PV plant

The CEME1 project in Chile, the country’s largest solar project, has started commercial operation with the developer, Generadora Metropolitana owned by French utility EDF and Chilean independent power producer AME. JA Solar provided solar panels for the project. Aiqing Yang, executive president of JA Solar, expressed pride in contributing to the local energy transition. The Chilean solar sector has a cumulative installed capacity of 8.5GW by the end of 2023, with high potential for expansion and efficiency improvements.
