Germany adds 512MW of solar-plus-storage projects in latest auction

Germany awarded 512MW of capacity to solar-plus-storage projects in its recent Innovation Auction. Bavaria received the most capacity across 24 projects. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein also got projects. The auction was oversubscribed in October 2023. Additionally, over 2.3GW of capacity was awarded in the latest onshore wind auction. The German PV sector has seen significant expansion, with over 5GW of new capacity added in the first four months of 2024.
