Germany: New PV records in July

With the considerable increase in photovoltaics in Germany, PV records are being achieved more rapidly. In July, installed PV systems produced a record total of 10.3 TWh, according to data from Agora Energiewende and Energy Charts from Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems. PV systems generated 2 TWh or 24% higher than in the same month last year. PV accounted for 27% of net electricity production. PV and wind power together generated 45% in July. Renewables accounted for 61%. Lignite-fired power plants accounted for 15% of net electricity generation. CO2 price was low at €67 per ton. Solar power generation reached a peak of 48.5 GW in July. Electricity prices fluctuated between 6 and 8 cents per kilowatt-hour, with 81 hours of negative prices in July.
