The German Ministry for Economic Affairs is inviting solar module manufacturers to set up manufacturing facilities in Germany, aiming to allocate investment subsidies through the Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework. The objective is to establish a 10 GW production capacity along the PV value chain with specific criteria. Projects must meet certain requirements including module efficiency over 24% and annual degradation below 0.2%. Soldering processes are not allowed, and CO2 footprint below 18 grams of CO2/kWh is required. Antimony-free solar glass is a must. The US Inflation Reduction Act has raised pressure for more financial support for the German solar industry, leading to companies considering investments in the US.
