Global solar installed capacity up 87% to 447GW in 2023

The global solar market saw significant growth in 2023, with the US installing 32.4GW of solar capacity, following China's lead. SolarPower Europe (SPE) reported a total of 447GW of new solar capacity installed globally, attributing the growth to factors like improved solar module availability and the global energy crisis. Solar power has become a popular choice due to its reliability and cost-effectiveness. Solar accounted for 78% of new renewables capacity in 2023, with China, the US, Brazil, Germany, and India being the top countries in installed solar capacity. SPE forecasts further growth in solar installations up to 2028, with the global solar market on track to exceed 2TW by the end of this year.
