Global solar power capacity hits 1.6 TW after 87% surge in new installations in 2023

New solar power installations around the world grew 87% year on year in 2023, bringing the total capacity worldwide to 1.6 TW. SolarPower Europe's CEO Walburga Hemetsberger highlighted the importance of financing and flexible energy systems for continued growth. Notable solar market growth was seen in advanced economies like China, Germany, and the United States. European countries like Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands also saw significant solar capacity additions.
