LEAG is building a major renewable energy hub in southeastern Germany to replace lignite-fired coal generation plants. The hub will include solar and wind energy generation, battery energy storage, and green hydrogen production. The first project involves constructing a battery system to replace a coal-fired power station in Saxony, eastern Germany. LEAG aims to demonstrate a renewable energy system at scale and use battery storage and hydrogen for grid balancing. ESS, a battery specialist, is partnering with LEAG on the project.
