Green light for 360MW UK battery

UK developer Elements Green has announced the approval of the 36MW Staythorpe battery energy storage system in Nottinghamshire, UK. The project aims to prevent 1.8 million tonnes of CO2 emissions over a 40-year period, equivalent to removing 37,500 cars from the road. The battery will have a peak capacity of 360MW and can store 720MWh, benefiting approximately 150,000 households. The development team is preparing for construction, emphasizing environmental contributions and job creation. The project aligns with UK government targets for carbon emissions reduction and renewable energy expansion.
