Hamburger Energiewerke (HEnW) and Luxcara will receive state funding for the Hamburg Green Hydrogen Hub (HGHH) project at the site of the former Moorburg coal-fired power plant. Gasnetz Hamburg is receiving funding for the first 40km of the HH-WIN hydrogen distribution network. The Federal government and the City of Hamburg are jointly providing over €250m for these projects. Infrastructure schemes like these are crucial for Hamburg's future hydrogen economy. Gasnetz Hamburg will start building the central infrastructure for Hamburg's hydrogen industry this summer, expected to be completed by 2027. The HGHH consortium is progressing by ordering large components for the 100MW electrolyser to commence construction as early as 2025.
