Johnson Controls, Hamburg Water, and Hamburg Energie are collaborating on a wastewater heat project in Hamburg, Germany. The project involves Johnson Controls providing a 60 MW heat pump system to the city's central wastewater treatment plant. This system, consisting of four 15 MW heat pumps, will supply heat to over 39,000 residential units starting from 2025. The heat extracted from treated wastewater will be utilized in Hamburg Energie's district heating system, contributing to the city's heat transition by leveraging local energy sources and advanced technologies.
