High pressure ‘block’ brings sunshine and heat to Mexico, US Midwest, South and Canada

Data shows above average solar irradiance in Mexico, US Southwest, Midwest, and Canada during June. Enhanced solar generation helped meet high electricity demand caused by heatwaves. Anomalies in irradiance due to high pressure over Canada and Pacific Northwest. Storms led to cloudy conditions in California, West, Northeast. El Niño expected to bring wetter weather to Mexico and Southern US in winter. Solcast uses satellite data and AI to track clouds and calculate irradiance.
