Hitachi plans US$155m North American hub

Hitachi Energy is investing an additional US$155m to expand manufacturing capacity in North America. The investment includes a new distribution transformer factory in Reynosa, Mexico, expansions in South Boston, Virginia and Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania. The company's order backlog has tripled since 2020, with significant contributions from the US. Chief executive Andreas Schierenbeck emphasized the growing demand for electrical equipment globally, particularly in North America.
