A research group at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom has developed a heat pump system that uses ice as a heat source and gas pipelines for energy transfer. The system has a lower coefficient of performance compared to conventional heat pumps but is beneficial due to reduced water circulation and lower additional costs.
