Researchers from Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE and the University of Freiburg assessed the impact of a floating photovoltaics (FPV) system on Lake Maiwald in south-west Germany. The study revealed significant variations in water temperature, with a cooling effect observed on the near-surface layers. The findings suggest potential implications for climate change and the need for further research on the interaction between FPVs and water bodies.
