A group of scientists led by the University of Agriculture Faisalabad in Pakistan proposed enhancing perovskite solar cell efficiency by adding a CdTe buffer layer. The presence of CdTe aids in forming the HTL layer and prevents additives leakage. CdTe's hydrophobic nature protects from moisture, corrosion, and UV degradation. The new cell design achieved a significantly higher efficiency of 23.56% compared to 11.09% without the buffer layer.
