Indonesia relaxes local content requirement for solar projects

The government of Indonesia has eased local content requirements for solar power projects and other renewable energy sources. Solar power plants now require only 20% local content, down from 40%. Hydropower and wind power plants also have reduced local content requirements. The regulation exempts projects with at least 50% funding from foreign lenders from local content rules. Fabby Tumiwa from the Institute for Essential Services Reform supports the changes, particularly benefiting solar PV projects.
