Innergex commissions 35-MW BESS in Chile

Canadian company Innergex Renewable Energy Inc has commissioned a 35-MW/175-MWh San Andres battery energy storage system in the Atacama Desert, northern Chile. The battery will store excess solar power during the day and dispatch it during the evening and early mornings to capture peak market prices, generating expected annual revenues of USD 6-8 million. The company secured a USD 49.5 million bridge loan for the project, with an estimated total investment of USD 61.9 million.
