Italy deployed 1 GW of new solar in Q1

Italy reached 26,106 MW of cumulative installed PV capacity by the end of December, with new installations in 2022 totaling 1,058 MW. The majority of capacity is from systems below 20 kW in size. Lombardia, Veneto, Emilia Romagna, and Piedmont are the regions with the highest new capacity additions. Projections for 2023 and 2024 suggest significant growth in solar power installations, supported by government initiatives including an auction system and net metering program.
