Jordanians eager to embrace renewable energy

A household survey in Jordan by Germany's Research Institute for Sustainability found overwhelming support for an energy transition towards renewable energy sources. The survey highlights the potential of renewables in creating jobs, improving energy security, and reducing costs. While government backing has decreased, challenges such as energy dependency on oil and gas, and geopolitical factors like long-term purchasing agreements have hindered progress. Different regions in Jordan show varying attitudes towards the energy transition. Recommendations include considering regional differences in policy-making and leveraging renewables to address local challenges like high energy prices and water scarcity.
