Kyon secures permit for 20-MW battery in Germany

German energy storage developer Kyon Energy has obtained permission to build a 20-MW/40-MWh battery energy storage facility in Schleswig-Holstein. The system will store excess energy from renewable energy plants and enhance electricity supply by participating in balancing and wholesale markets. Kyon Energy, led by managing director Florian Antwerpen, has a significant pipeline of energy storage projects in Germany, including a 100-MW battery project in North Rhine-Westphalia.
