Kyon to build 110-MW/220-MWh battery in Lower Saxony

German energy storage developer Kyon Energy to construct one of Germany’s largest energy storage systems in Helmstedt, Lower Saxony. The project will be 110-MW/220-MWh in size and located near the substation in Helmstedt. Large-scale battery storage systems play a crucial role in the energy transition by enhancing grid flexibility and supporting renewable energy integration. Wittich Schobert, mayor of Helmstedt, highlights the project's contribution to transforming a former lignite mining area into a modern industrial location with renewable energy generation. Kyon Energy has a track record of developing and selling 121 MW of battery storage systems and has a substantial project pipeline in place.
