Energy company LEAG has received EU funding of about EUR 45 million to develop a 40-MW hydrogen production and storage complex in eastern Germany's mining region Lusatia. The funding was provided through the EU's Just Transition Fund (JTF). LEAG plans to build an electrolysis plant, hydrogen storage facility, and thermal storage facility at the Jaenschwalde site. This project is part of LEAG's GigawattFactory concept aimed at deploying renewables and storage technologies for a reliable and demand-oriented supply of green electricity.
