Research groups in Europe are investigating VIPV applications to extend the driving range of electric vehicles by integrating solar cells on different vehicle parts. A European research team led by Bin Luo has made progress in developing lightweight PV modules with high reliability. They focused on mechanical properties, interconnection, and encapsulation strategies to improve VIPV module reliability against damp heat and mechanical impacts.
