Longi announces 27.30% efficiency for heterojunction back contact solar cell

Chinese solar module manufacturer Longi has set a new world record for power conversion efficiency at 27.30% for an HBC solar cell, confirmed by Germany's Institute for Solar Energy Research (ISFH). The achievement surpasses the previous record also held by Longi. Longi credits the breakthrough to a new laser graphical process that reduces costs compared to traditional methods and minimizes the use of traditional indium-based conductive oxides, enhancing the commercialization prospects of HBC solar cells. Additionally, Longi has achieved a 33.9% efficiency for a perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell and a high efficiency for an unspecified heterojunction solar cell.
