LONGi, a Chinese module manufacturer, announced a commercial M6 size wafer-level silicon-perovskite tandem solar cell with a record 30.1% efficiency at Intersolar Europe 2024. The record conversion efficiency was certified by German research organisation Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE). He Bo, the R&D director of LONGi Central R&D Institute, mentioned the challenges overcome in developing the cell. LONGi established the Central R&D Institute in 2012, describing it as the backbone of the company. They have also launched the Hi-MO X6 Artist Ultra Black module which generates up to 435W and has proprietary HPBC cells allowing lossless light absorption.
