Longi's R&D team achieved a record-breaking power conversion efficiency of 33.5% for a perovskite-silicon solar cell. The announcement was made in Munich, Germany during Intersolar Europe. Longi President Li Zhenguo emphasized the importance of improving efficiency and reducing electricity costs in the photovoltaic industry. The European Solar Test Installation (ESTI) certified the results, marking a 1.7% increase from the previous rating. Longi's efficiency results were ranked second-highest by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), following King Abdullah University of Science and Technology's (KAUST) achievement of 33.7% efficiency. Longi has broken the world record for solar cell efficiency multiple times since April 2021.
