Malaysia opens its renewable energy market to PPAs, cross-border trade

Malaysia's Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change and Ministry of Economy are collaborating on renewable energy initiatives. The government approved measures to increase renewable energy generation capacity, encourage corporate involvement, develop an electricity exchange system, and integrate surplus energy across borders. Efforts aim to reach 70% renewable energy capacity by 2050, requiring significant investments. The country targets to add 1,098 MW by 2025 and 2,414 MW by 2035.
