MAN Energy Solutions installed the world’s largest ETES heat pump in Esbjerg, Denmark, powered by wind farms using Wadden Sea as a heat source. It will replace coal-fired heat for district heating, providing heat to 25,000 households and producing 350,000 MWh of heat per year. The heat pump can reach 150 C, delivering water at 90 C to the city’s heating network. It uses excess wind power to balance the grid if required, converting it into heat for customers on calm days.
