A market consultation by Uniper Energy Storage indicates strong interest in hydrogen storage in North West Germany from 2029 onwards. Survey results show a potential hydrogen storage capacity of up to 600 GWh by 2030. Uniper, under the guidance of Managing Director Doug Waters, stresses the need for a stable regulatory framework to meet these demands efficiently. The demand significantly surpasses existing natural gas capabilities, aiming for larger, more flexible hydrogen storage solutions. Plans are aligned with achieving the REPowerEU targets, requiring extensive hydrogen storage capacity in Europe by 2030 and 2050.
