Microclimates could bolster case for agrivoltaics

Researchers studied the economic feasibility of agrivoltaics in the United Kingdom by installing PV systems on arable farms. The simulations showed that introducing agrivoltaics could more than double the annual operating profit in most locations, with southern regions like Canterbury, Penryn, and Brecon showing the greatest economic benefit. The paper highlighted the multifaceted benefits of agrivoltaics, such as higher land equivalent ratio and improved PV output due to the microclimate under the system.
