Morlais environmental plan approved

The Menter Môn-led Marine Characterisation Research Project (MCRP) announced the successful discharge of Natural Resources Wales' Environmental Monitoring and Mitigation Plan (EMMP) for the Morlais tidal energy project in Anglesey, Wales. The EMMP, a critical component of the marine licence, ensures marine wildlife safety during tidal device deployment. MCRP aims to set a model for future marine energy projects through collaboration with stakeholders. Continuous analysis of baseline data will inform EMMP updates for scalable tidal energy schemes. Helen Roberts, the MCRP project manager, highlights the importance of effective monitoring and mitigation technology. Menter Môn Morlais owns and manages the project, with the first tidal energy devices set to deploy in 2026, funded by the Crown Estate and Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
