Netherlands’ largest wastewater heat pump goes online in Utrecht

Dutch energy supplier Eneco and regional water authority Hoogheemraadschap De Stichtse Rijnlanden (HDSR) have activated the largest heat pump in the Netherlands, situated in the city of Utrecht. The heat pump utilizes purified hot wastewater from HDSR to produce heat for the local network. This sustainable system can provide heat for 20,000 homes annually, demonstrating a circular approach to heat reuse.
