New model shows how to power homes exclusively with hydrogen, solar, batteries

Researchers from the University of Cantabria in Spain developed a pilot project for a self-sufficient home using photovoltaics, batteries, and hydrogen storage. The project aimed to provide year-round energy self-sufficiency for a social housing unit in Novales, Spain, with a size of 80 m2. By utilizing a tailored energy management strategy and a combination of solar panels, battery storage, and hydrogen technology, the house achieved significant reductions in energy costs and CO2 emissions.
