Noise-barrier integrated photovoltaics for highways, railways

Researchers at Germany's Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE (Fraunhofer ISE) are field-testing new module concepts to integrate into noise barrier walls alongside roadways or railways. The study, dubbed PVwins, investigates five different integrated PV solutions for use in sound-absorbing walls aiming to provide cost-effective, power-generating solutions for applications in new construction, retrofits, or add-on projects.
