A European research team investigated the effect of different time resolution data on the design of hybrid PV-wind power plants and found that lower resolution can lead to an overestimation of the net present value of the facilities. Their findings emphasized the importance of using higher resolution data for optimizing the topology of power plants with capacity limits. The research was based on an operational HyPP in East Germany with both PV and wind assets. The study highlighted discrepancies in losses estimated by different resolution datasets and recommended acquiring data on 1-minute resolution as a good compromise between accuracy and effort.
