Ofgem fast-tracks 26 grid projects

Ofgem has fast-tracked 26 grid connection projects for faster grid connections for renewable projects. A £3.4 billion funding package has been awarded for a proposed 500km cable between Scotland and Yorkshire. The EGL2 is the first to secure funding through ASTI, running from Peterhead to Drax. Converter stations will aid in electricity transport into the grid. Jonathan Brearly mentioned ASTI will speed up EGL2 by two years. Ofgem has approved early funding for the North London Reinforcement Project as well.
