A total of 56 out of the 112 turbines at the 980MW Nordlicht offshore wind farm in the German North Sea will partly be fabricated with low-emission steel, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of the towers. Vattenfall aims to accelerate the green transition of its business by reducing CO2 emissions in its supply chain. Vattenfall, BASF, and Vestas V236 15MW offshore turbines are collaborating on this initiative to use low-emission steel in offshore wind projects, powered by renewable energy. The move towards low-carbon steel is essential for Vattenfall to achieve its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. Vattenfall's commitment to reducing emissions is further highlighted by receiving the Supplier Engagement Leader Award for the second year in a row.
