The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is collaborating with the Department of Energy (DOE) to expedite offshore wind projects by revamping port infrastructure. Three priority ports, Port of Currimao, Port of Batangas, and Port of Jose Panganiban, will be repurposed to support offshore wind projects. Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla emphasizes the importance of modernizing port facilities to advance clean energy initiatives and boost economic growth. The DOE has identified these ports as crucial for offshore wind development due to their proximity to high-potential offshore wind energy service contracts (OWESCs). Port infrastructure plays a critical role in facilitating the delivery of OSW energy projects, from installation to decommissioning, ensuring the country's readiness for increasing demands in the sector.
