Researchers at RWTH Aachen University analyzed the impact of German government's political measures on residential PV system profitability amid rising energy prices. They concluded that despite the energy price breaks, the economical advantage of deploying a solar array remains. The analysis highlighted the effect of feed-in tariffs reduction and panel prices increase on PV system savings from 2020 to 2022. The study projected that the costs and benefits of PV systems are expected to change significantly by 2030 due to progressing decarbonization of the public electricity grid.
