Poland’s 57% de-rating factor for BESS would be ‘lethal blow’ to market

The government of Poland has proposed a de-rating factor for battery energy storage systems in the next capacity market auction, which has raised concerns among developers. The de-rating factor for BESS, kinetic-based energy storage, and supercapacitors is set at 57.58%. Michał Maćkowiak, managing director of Harmony Energy, expressed concerns that the reduction of the factor could have a negative impact on the BESS market in Poland.
